As we move into this summer at Southview, we are in a season of transition: between what has been and what is yet to be. Each of us walks through seasons like this in our personal lives as well - times that can feel like “waiting places,” times that are “in-between.” One of the terms for these seasons of transition between one stage and the next is “Liminality.” So what do God’s people do in liminal times like these? How do we walk through "in-between" seasons in our lives? Because Scripture seems to shout that God does His best work in us while we wait. Join us on a journey through the Scriptures, discovering how our spiritual ancestors navigated liminal times, as we look to biblical truths for how we live in our own times of waiting.Digging Deeper Questions ►https://southviewchurch.com/digging-deeper/Check out our Weekly Viewpoint ► https://southviewchurch.com/viewpointFind Us on Instagram ► https://www.instagram.com/saccalgary/Find Us on Facebook ►https://www.facebook.com/southviewchurch

Pentecost is remembering and celebrating the Holy Spirit being given to followers of Christ and the Church being founded. Red is the liturgical color for Pentecost weekend. Red recalls the tongues of flame in which the Holy Spirit descended on the first Pentecost. A tradition of some churches in ancient times was to baptize adult converts to the faith on Pentecost. The newly baptized would wear white robes on that day, so Pentecost was often called “Whitsunday” or “White Sunday” after these white baptismal garments. One of the foundational elements of all of the New Testament letters, is the reality of the new identity that we have when we have turned to and follow Jesus: through faith in Christ we become a child of the God of creation. That reality is to mold, guide and transform us in the way we live in every area of our lives. In the second part of John’s first epistle, he provides us with understanding and guidance about how we live out that new identity in our personal lives and in our life together as a church family. For it is that new identity in Christ that provides the basis for how we change, provides the ‘seeds of transformation.’ So how do we keep from being deceived? How do we change? That will be the focus of this teaching series.
